 POLLED BRAHMANS FARM

We would like to thank you for visiting our website. On the following pages you will be able to see some of our quality Polled Grey and Red Brahmans. We are not a large quantity producing farm but, we are proud of our breeding program and we strive to provide our customers with quality animals that would make any breeder proud to add to their breeding program

Lazy 8 Polled Brahmans is a registered Brahman cattle breeder. It is owned and run by Sam and Christie Miles, with their three sons, Ross, Scott and Jeff.

WHO WE ARE

Lazy 8 Polled Brahmans is located 12km from Queenstown in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. The Miles family has been farming beef cattle for 6 generations. The love of the Brahman breed is well entrenched in the family.

The stud started as a commercial Brahman cow herd with the intention of breeding up to stud or just providing bulls for themselves. They felt that the temperament of the heifers were negatively influenced after dehorning (only done at 7 months). The commercial cattle herd comprises of a 3-way split using only purebred bulls, Hereford, Brahman and Angus. Because of the availability of naturally polled Angus and Hereford cattle. Research was done on the availability of naturally polled Brahman cattle. The concern of chasing a fad was put to rest as naturally polled Brahmans, while scarce, have been around for 50 years and more. The Australians have a high percentage of polled Brahmans already. Poll testing in the Brahman breed has a high level of accuracy.

It is felt that because of the high price on polled bulls and semen, breeders have for years only been using their top cows in polled programs.

Our goal is to provide beef farmers, stud and commercial, with quality polled Brahman bulls and semen.

We specialise in high quality Polled Brahman genetics. Through embryo transfer we have quickly assembled a small herd of cattle of an excellent type with elite genetics.

We feel that with careful selection and planned pairings that we can assist in adding the polled factor to any herd in South Africa.
